SUE HAWKSWORTH
Company Chair and
Assistant Director/Choreographer
Sue has been a member of
York Light Opera for over 40 years, as both a performer playing several roles including Louise (Carousel), Jean (Brigadoon) and Arabel (Robert and Elizabeth) and member of the artistic production team.
She has been Martyn’s assistant for the past 15 years, a role she thoroughly enjoys.

She has been our director Martyn Knight’s assistant for the past 15 years, a role she thoroughly enjoys.
SIMON KELLY
Honorary Secretary
Simon joined York Light Opera in 1999 for the production of Barnum, although strangely this was whilst studying music at University in Leeds!
As well as taking part on stage he has also produced musical arrangements, led music rehearsals, played in the pit and worked as part of our backstage crew.
In August 2014 he took on the role of secretary and is the first point of contact for members.
SUZANNE AYERS

Suzanne has been a member
of York Light for over 50 years.
Throughout the years with us Suzanne has performed on stage in many of our productions.
More recently Suzanne has enjoyed being part of the Wardrobe, Hair and Makeup Team as well as our Company President.
HANNAH
CARTER-BROWN
Marketing Officer &
Graphic Designer
Hannah joined York Light in 2018 and took on the role of Marketing Officer and Graphic Designer; managing the marketing team, leading campaigns on promoting York Light shows and designing our promotional materials and programmes.
She also joined the company as part of the ensemble in Grease.
